Seabreeze High School 2023-2024
American Musical Theatre
This auditioned class is meant to prepare you for the collegiate and professional theatre world, no matter if you choose to pursue it or not! In the professional world, you should know how to audition; you should feel confident in your abilities as a performer as well as in your knowledge of the given material; and you should know how to interact with the cast, the crew, and the creatives in an adept manner.
This class is modeled after and acts as a prep course for the typical Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre program. That means you can expect the following:
Movement/dance classes
Performance opportunities to practice what you’re working on
Workshops with people in the industry
Examining and analyzing musical theatre pieces
Recording and editing performance reels
Audition and competition prep
The study of several acting and vocal techniques
A student showcase at the end of the school year
The students in this class are required to audition for Thespian Festival and the school-wide Spring musical, take part or perform in the Fall Thespian and Spring AMT Showcases, and attend after-school rehearsals and performances.
